Marriott International Leadership Style - 988 Words
It was never thought that having a vision and mission statement gives purpose to an organization. Consequently, one never thought of how different leadership styles may have a distinct effect on the way a mission and, an organization vision is carried out by the team. Now there is controversy in the world regarding standard leadership styles versus servant leadership styles. Marriott International chose the styles of servant-leadership. New York and Company chose the style of standard leadership. Both incorporate strong value that may flourish the organization profit, loyalty of customers and perhaps the employees, and development of positive behaviors, attitudes, and growth. Which one is truly better to use as a leadership styles?â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Again, although NYC is not a part of the companies listed on the Fortune 100 list that implement servant-leadership as their chosen leadership style they very well could be. NYC top priority resembles Southwest in putting thei r employee first. They believe in promoting within the company. Included in their mission is the statement of ââ¬Å"the best person for the position is the person who knows the company and the culture, we strive for employee development of success (NYC, 2017)â⬠. As supposed to Marriott International which mission statement is to ââ¬Å"serve their world with supporting the communities in which one lives and work (Marriott International Inc., 2017)â⬠. Who is their world? The employees or their customers? Perhaps the world include their employee. It seems life NYC put more emphasis on their employees unlike the Marriott who give more insight to their customers. As a customer of Marriott one would be happy to know this fact. This is the reason why The Marriott maybe the first choice for most people. The Marriott International and NYC have a very promising and attainable mission and vision statement that impact the culture deeply through their compassion to serve first.
